Registration
Conference registration is open, please see the types and cost below. Before registering, we recommend that you take the time to look over the information on the website, especially the pre-conference workshops and social events. You register and pay for workshops, and optional social events, at the time of registration.
You can register to attend the conference without a submission. All prices are in AUD.
In order to attend the conference you must be a current International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) member.
- It is highly encouraged that you become a member before registering for the conference. This can be done through the society website: http://www.isls.org/membership.html
- You may register for the conference at Member rates only if you have paid your 2012 ISLS membership fee of $109USD. ($60USD for students)
- If you are not currently a member of ISLS, your conference registration fee will include a one-year ISLS membership. This incurs a built-in administration fee of $125AUD ($75AUD for students) and may also incur exchange rate fees - this is significantly higher than joining via the ISLS website. You will be required to specify whether you would like to receive Journal of the Learning Sciences or the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning.
- ICLS will inform ISLS about the registration details of these types after the conference and you will receive membership details from ISLS.

Theme
On this, its tenth anniversary, the theme for ICLS 2012 is "the future of learning". Submissions that address the theme, looking forward at the innovations and technologies that will influence the learning sciences in the near and far future, are particularly welcome. We encourage researchers in the learning sciences and related areas to reflect on our principled understandings of learning so far, and then to seriously consider new and/or iterated theoretical and empirical directions for the field. Given the ongoing and dramatic transformations of society, affected by a variety of digital media and communications technologies, fast paced societal changes, and significant global challenges, we further hope that advances in our scientific understanding of learning will in turn inform policy as well as the formal and informal educational experiences of students.
