Educational Showcases
Purpose:
CSCL Educational Showcases intend to offer the opportunity for practitioners to present their successful computer-supported collaborative learning activities applied in their ‘classes’.
To whom is it addressed?
- to teachers in schools (primary, secondary schools, universities) that have applied CSCL activities in their classes,
- to teacher educators that have applied CSCL activities in order to educate teachers, and
- to trainers of employees in companies that apply CSCL activities so as to train company employees to learn something specific or just to learn to collaborate among them.
Presentation Format:
The selected showcases will have the opportunity to present their CSCL activity in a showcase stand, during a special session of the conference accompanied by a Reception.
Showcases Award:
A special award is attributed to the CSCL educational showcases. The best three proposals and corresponding demonstrations will be selected and nominated, while one of them will receive the award (1.000 E plus a valuable present and a certification) during the closing session of the CSCL2009 Conference.
Application procedure:
To participate in this event, submit an application into the ”Showcases” category, of the Conference Submission System on the CSCL2009 website, not later than December 20, 2008.
The application must include a detailed description of the CSCL activity (6-8 pages) including figures and/or photos. This file will be used so as to review the presented work by the corresponding reviewers. The applications should indicate:
- details about the context of CSCL activity
- purpose and/or objectives
- duration of the CSCL activities
- the main ideas / scenario / structure of CSCL activity
- teacher or moderator roles
- materials used (e.g. software, books, videos)
- strengths and challenges of implementing the CSCL activity
Then, the authors of the selected showcases will have to submit a three page summary presentation of the CSCL activity, so as to be published in the Volume “CSCL2009 Community Events Proceedings”. This camera ready summary will have to follow the Conference Publication Guidelines and it will be due by March 1, 2009.
