CSCL in Times of Crisis Webinar Series

The Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) community of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) together with the Network of Academic Programs in the Learning Sciences (NAPLeS) are offering a live webinar series with presentations as well as Q & A about effective practices, approaches, and tools for fostering a sense of co-presence and community in online teaching and learning.

The 13 webinars will take place weekly, beginning Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at 3 pm (GMT, London).

The next webinar will be presented by Tugce Aldemir, Marcela Borge, and Xia Yu, The Pennsylvania State University:

Collective Regulation & Enhanced Analysis Thinking Environment (CREATE)

The online discussion system of CREATE consists of four phases of activities, preceded by a Reading Questions activity. The CREATE system supports discussion groups from planning, to chatting, to individual assessment, and finally to group reflection. The system takes the individual assessment scores and provides the team with a visualization of their average scores. Then in their group reflection, groups of students enter their greatest strength and weakness in the system, and then the system provides advice and strategies for improving their area of weakness.

You can stream the webinar and participate in the subsequent Q & A session here on Wednesday, March 10th 2021, 3:00 – 4:00 pm (GMT, London, UK): https://youtu.be/QOTSKI3zyI4
