The University of Texas at El Paso invites nominations and applications for an Associate Dean of Research in the College of Education. Serving on the Dean’s leadership team, the Associate Dean will provide college-wide leadership in research and will facilitate the implementation of the UTEP College of Education’s research strategy, which is focused on building a thriving culture of impact-driven research based in educational partnerships in and across the Paso del Norte region and beyond. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to innovative convergence research, particularly in relation to Hispanic-serving contexts. The candidate will demonstrate a record for cultivating collaborative, cross-sector research teams and infrastructure focused on jointly-identified research needs aligned with the 2030 UTEP Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities for the position include: building internal infrastructure to support high levels of research productivity at a Hispanic-serving R1 institution; leveraging existing community-engaged research partnerships and faculty expertise to advance research that addresses relevant priorities in schools and other organizations; developing a sustainable research mentorship and professional development pipeline for faculty members across career trajectories; working across departments with diverse faculty to achieve key goals, outcomes, and measures for research in the College of Education.

The anticipated start date is fall 2022.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: An established record of excellence in teaching, scholarship (in publication and extramural funding), and service appropriate to the rank of Associate/Full Professor with tenure. Prior administrative experience, including successful staff oversight and management. Evidence of leadership, team-building, and partnerships in university-school-community settings and/or international contexts. Capacity to mentor/coach early-career faculty and collaborate with mid-career and senior faculty. Experience with strategic planning and an understanding of faculty needs, with a view towards fostering impact-driven research activity, growth, and collaboration. A record of cultivating research partnerships and identifying innovative, interdisciplinary ways of addressing next-generation educational challenges and opportunities. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited institution in one of the College’s programs of study or related field.

Additional Information: Salary is commensurate with experience and record of research, teaching, and service. Hiring decisions are contingent upon budget approval.
