ABOUT US:
The Department of Educational Psychology (DEP) is in the Faculty of Education, East China Normal University, Shanghai. The mission of the DEP is to improve students’ learning and development. The faculties at DEP strive to better understand the psychological mechanisms of students’ learning and development and to design a better learning environment for students of all ages. The DEP offers five specialties including Learning Research and Environment Design, Child Development, Educational Measurement and Statistics, School Counseling, and Educational Neuroscience. All DEP faculties have Ph.D. degree or postdoc experience from oversea world-class universities.
DESCRIPTION:
DEP invites applications for multiple open rank, tenure track positions. We seek applicants with expertise on substantive areas such as counseling psychology, learning sciences, developmental sciences. Proficiency or interest in a range of educational psychology, including the following, is highly welcomed:
- School counseling psychology (preferably for learning and development counseling, youth career planning, positive psychology, etc.)
- Learning and learning environment design (preferably for learning in realistic or information-based situations, innovative learning formats, design of learning environments and school curricula, etc.)
- Developmental sciences (preferably for cognitive social and emotional development, child and adolescent development, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have an active program of research and will have responsibilities for teaching residential undergraduate and graduate courses, advising master’s and doctoral graduate students, and providing service to the department, faculty, and university.
Required qualifications:
- Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to a significant program of research that has the potential to secure external funding, commensurate with experience.
- Candidates should be willing to contribute toward program efforts to support the University’s general education program.
- Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable qualifications:
- The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to contribute to the Educational Psychology program’s emphasis on the development and evaluation of educational interventions.
- The ideal candidate will have an active program of theoretically-driven research focused on one or more content areas of learning.
- The ideal candidate will show evidence of the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
