Open-Rank Science Education Faculty – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction seeks applications for an open-ranked position in science education. This is a full-time, tenure-track, academic year, nine-month position. This faculty member’s primary affiliation would be within the Math, Science, and Engineering (MSE) program area. The MSE program area focuses on research related to teaching and learning in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). This includes scholarship focused on theories of learning in STEM domains, discourse in STEM classrooms, teacher education and STEM teaching practices, curriculum development, sociopolitical perspectives, and STEM education in informal and out-of-school contexts. 

The specific area of interest in science education is open but we especially encourage applicants with research interests in the intersection of science education and social-justice, community-engaged scholarship, and science teaching and learning. The successful candidate will contribute to a rich tradition of conducting influential research; securing external grant funding; supporting and teaching courses in the teacher education program; teaching both face-to-face and online/hybrid courses; recruiting, mentoring and advising master’s and doctoral students; and providing university, state, and professional service.
