The University of Utah’s Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank with primary responsibilities in the Instructional Design and Educational Technology (IDET) program. IDET faculty supervise master’s degree candidates in the IDET program and Ph.D. candidates in the Learning and Cognition doctoral program, as well as contributing to the training of pre-service teachers in the Urban Institute of Teacher Education.

Applicants should demonstrate a high-quality program of research with strong theoretical foundations focused on technology-based learning. Multiple areas of specialization will be considered, but researchers in any of the following areas particularly are encouraged to apply:

  • Educational data mining
  • Adaptive and/or personalized systems
  • Online learning/instruction
  • Learning with virtual reality, 3D materials, or immersive systems

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a strong record of research, publication, grant writing, and other scholarly activities.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Educational Psychology focused on instructional technologies, learning with technology, multimedia design/web development, and area of research specialization.
  • Mentor/supervise graduate students and serve on graduate student committees.
  • Engage in service for program, department, college, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Learning Sciences, Cognitive Science, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • A program of research that demonstrates strong theoretical foundations and clear potential for high-quality research, teaching, publications, and external funding.
