Cyberlearning 2015: Connect, Collaborate, and Create the Future

The Center for Innovative Research in Cyberlearning (CIRCL), located at SRI International in partnership with Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) and NORC at the University of Chicago will be hosting the Cyberlearning 2015: Connect, Collaborate, and Create the Future on January 27-28, 2015 in Arlington, Virginia.

Attendees will work together to understand how the developing Cyberlearning community can achieve deep impacts by integrating emerging technological possibilities with rigorous learning theory.

Dominant themes of the conference include mobile and wearable computing, big data and learning analytics, embodied learning, effecting cultural change, games in learning, youth and STEM, and working with teachers, policy-makers, industry and across research communities.

Key outcomes will include shaping the research and development efforts that will become the focus of future community efforts.

The meeting will be structured for participants to work collaboratively towards potential impacts on policy, practice, future research solicitations, and products.

The application to attend this meeting is now closed, however interested members of the ISLS community may request to be put on the wait list. Virtual participation is also encouraged. Stay tuned.

ISLS members are also urged to contribute to and participate in ongoing Cyberlearning community-building efforts. JLS Outstanding Paper (2022): Utilizing dance resources for learning and engagement in STEM

This paper authored by Folashadé Solomon, Dionne Champion, Mariah Steele and Tracey Wright received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of the Learning Sciences. As the selection panel comments, “By employing culturally responsive pedagogy, the authors established a connection between the learning of physics and dance education, thereby promoting access and equity…The meticulous analysis provided insights into how dance, as an embodied form of knowledge, facilitated a transformation in the black girls’ relationship with physics.”
