University of Pennsylvania - Call for Doctoral Students

The Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania is expanding their learning sciences program and is looking for doctoral students. The newly started Center for Collaboration, Computation, Complexity, and Creativity in Learning Sciences C4LS will cover a wide range of research activities on what children, educators, and formal and informal educational systems need to do in order to prepare them for productive participation in the 21st century. The C4LS center’s research is conducted in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, the nation’s seventh largest urban school district, the Franklin Institute, one of the nation’s leading science museums, colleagues across Penn’s campus in community service-learning, the department of Computer and Information Studies, the Nanobio Interface Center and the School of Engineering and Applied Science. We are interested in students with a strong background in education and STEM backgrounds, teaching and research experience, and inquisitive minds interested in joining lively research teams. The school offers successful PhD applicants full fellowships covering tuition, fees and living expenses for four years. Applications are due December 15, 2011. For more information, please contact Dr. Yasmin Kafai (kafai@upenn.edu) or Dr. Susan Yoon (yoonsa@gse.upenn.edu).
